NWU hockey star chosen for SA World Cup squad

Ramasimong, who is yet to be capped at the highest level, will take part in her first major World Cup taking place in Spain and the Netherlands from 1-17 July 2022. 

The North West University ladies hockey player and SA u.21 star, Christa Ramasimong has been included the SA Women’s Hockey World Cup squad.

Ramasimong, who is yet to be capped at the highest level, will take part in her first major World Cup taking place in Spain and the Netherlands from 1-17 July 2022.

Ramasimong joins her Junior World Cup team mates, Jean-Leigh Du Toit, Kayla de Waal, Edith Molikoe, Bianca Wood, Onthatile Zulu and Hanrie Louw, in the senior national setup.

The SA World Cup squad is a mixture of youth and experience featuring the 271 cap, Lisa-Marie Deetlefs, Quanita Bobbs (142 caps), Bernadette Coston (155 caps) and Lilian Du Plessis (145 caps).

The SA women’s team are in pool D together with Australia, Belgium and Japan.

NWU hockey players, Charne Maddocks an Kirsty Adams are the non-travelling reserves selected for the tournament.
