The second edition of the North West N12 Ultra Marathon took place on Sunday, 29 April from Klerksdorp to Potch with runners finishing at the NWU McArthur Athletics Stadium.
Local North West athlete, David Manja, won the men’s 50km marathon in a time of 2:53:35. Nobukhosi Tshuma (Zimbabwe) won the women’s marathon in 3:16:29.
his was also a Comrades qualifier and was well received by numerous runners on the route from Klerksdorp Recreational Centre to the NWU McArthur Athletics Stadium. Manja’s victory was the cherry on the cake for this locally based race as it showcased the abundance of running talent of this province.
Potchefstromers, Adele Broodryk, also took third in the women’s 50km race.
