The countdown is on for the highly anticipated Day-Night One Day International between South Africa and Australia at the NWC Oval in Potchefstroom on Wednesday, September 30.
This will be the third and final match of the three-match ODI Series between two powerhouses. Chances are good, that this could be the deciding match in the series that starts on 24 September in Durban.
South Africa have chosen a strong squad for the series. Temba Bavuma will captain the side, with regulars David Miller, Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock forming the backbone of the batting lineup. Lungi Ngidi, Marco Jansen, and the returning Gerald Coetzee will provide bowling options.
Proteas head coach Shukri Conrad says the series will be an important opportunity as South Africa builds towards the next World Cup.
“With the World Cup just over a year away, this series marks an important step in shaping the squad as we build towards the tournament, while also giving those players who are in the frame opportunities when we face Bangladesh and England later in the season,” said Conrad.
The Proteas will be without fast bowler Kagiso Rabada for the series due to injury.
Australia will also feature regulars such as Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, Alex Carey. Mitchell Marsh will captain the team.
The match is set to start at 13:30 on Wednesday, September 30. Tickets are available at Ticketpro or at the stadium. Tickets start at R 100.
