Scrooge Diner hosts charity auction and dinner
The Scrooge diner in no scrooge find out about the charity diner and auction they hosted on 26 September.
A charity dinner was held at Scrooge Diner at Brightwater Commons on 26 September in aid of Chris Venter of Scooter Addicts.
The event was called Full Circle Charity Dinner and Auction by Terrance Tracey, manager of Scrooge.
Tracey is an enthusiastic traveller, who has ventured from Johannesburg to Coventry in the United Kingdom in his JoLan Imp, a 1965 Hillman Imp in May 2013.
He met Chris Venter who personally travelled 35 000km from Cape Town to Ireland on his scooter in an effort to raise more awareness for the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.
Unfortunately, during his travels, Venter picked up a disease in Malawi which has now caused him to be immobile and blind.
As friend and fellow traveller Tracey said, ”We would like to raise funds for the medical care that Chris deserves after all the hard work he has put towards helping other people.”
On the night, the JoLan Imp was on display as well as a number of memorabilia for auction – a pair of gloves signed by the double world champion boxer Hekkie Budler, suicide rides around the Kyalami race track in a race car on 7 November and a sumptuous dinner for eight people at Scrooge Diner.
Tracey confirmed that the event was able to raise R17 000 for Chris Venter. The pair of gloves signed by Hekkie Budler and a weekend-away trip were not able to be sold on auction due to a lack of high amount bids and will therefore be sold on an online site.
The night was enjoyed by everyone who attended, with tons of excitement all around.
