Prayer and walk against crime

The challenge of serious crime in Cosmo City led to a five point strategy being developed.

To this end, the Cosmo City Churches forum was established to play a direct role and to reclaim Cosmo City.

On 13 July the organisation made its presence known when it, Honeydew SAPS and the community took to the streets with a prayer walk against crime.

The prayer walk took place in three segments:

  • Segment 1 started in the park at ext 3 and finished at the Cosmo City SAPS satellite station
  • Segment 2 started at the park at ext 6 in Seychelles Street and finished at the park in ext 2 Lesotho Street
  • Segment 3 started at the park at ext 5 in Antigua Street and finished at the park in ext 0, Tennessee Street

The prayer walks started at 11am in the different segments and finished at 2.30pm. Honeydew Police station commander Brigadier Wayne Sirkhot also joined a group and after the event, addressed the church leaders at the satellite police station.
