Residents raise concerns

NORTH RIDING - Association strives to turn community into a safe haven

The North Riding Residents Association held its feedback session for August.

Association chairperson Rick Beltramo said, “Safety is a big concern in the area, and we as residents need to start taking steps to protect ourselves and our families. We have launched a portable panic button that works with the residents association’s security vehicle. It is not linked to any other security company because it is seen as additional security.”

Beltramo said residents need to join the community policing forum and the neighbourhood watch and be proactive.

Ward 115 councillor Chris Santana was also present and discussed North Riding High School, which is under construction on the corner of Hyperion and Bellairs Drive. “Traffic is going to be affected by the high school but there are more pros than cons to the situation. The school will help uplift the community and bring new life to the area,” he said.

Residents also had the opportunity to raise their concerns about the potholes and conditions of the roads in ward 115. “The only way to solve the issues is to log them and send me the reference numbers so I can escalate it.”

Beltramo added that residents can contact him if they want to subscribe to the residents association’s security service in the area.
