Metrobus fails commuters
A commuter is fed up with her Metrobus that seems to either come late or never show up.

Linden resident Tanya Ihlenfeldt is tired of waiting an hour before her bus arrives and wants Metrobus to clean up its act.
“The problem has been going on for seven months and it is still ongoing,” she said. “We are supposed to catch the bus on Rissik Street opposite Gandhi Square at 4.55pm every afternoon but due to the bus not arriving on time, we wait at the square for any bus going in our direction.”
Ihlenfeldt said after logging her complaint at the Metrobus Call Centre they confirmed that the 84 Honeydew bus which should arrive at 4.55pm and the 84 Honeydew bus which should arrive at 5.15pm have no reason not to be on route.
“This is not true,” said Ihlenfeldt. “The buses have never arrived on time to take us to our destination so all bus commuters have been taking the 83 Dr101537 B4074 bus. I cannot afford to wait for a bus for an hour or more. I get a penalty fee for picking my children up late.”
In response to the matter, Metrobus spokesperson Esther Dreyer said, “Currently, we have a shortage of buses which means that some trips do not operate due to the non-availability of buses. As an interim measure, Metrobus has leased 25 buses which will be ready for use on our routes later in February. Furthermore, the city council has approved the purchasing of 100 new buses. The tender was advertised recently.”
Dreyer apologised to passengers for the poor quality of the present Metrobus service and promised there would definitely be some improvement in the near future.
