Join in the fête fun at Ry-Ma-In

LINDEN – Quadriplegic home holds one of their bi-annual bazaars for all to enjoy.

One of the jewels in Linden suburb’s crown has once again organised a fun-filled fête for the whole family to enjoy.

Ry-Ma-In Quadriplegic self-help centre on 5th Street was the first centre of its kind in South Africa where able-minded, yet, physically disabled persons could lead a normal life. Before the centre came to be, wheelchair-bound paraplegics could only go to retirement villages for rehabilitation, or the likes of Tara and other institutes for the mentally-ill.

Today, the home is sustained by 11 residents, 12 care attendees and four other staff members who all work together to build a place where everyone has their place in the sun.

The centre is planning their first fête for the year to be held on 31 May, and it promises to be memorable family affair with stalls, books, art, a beer/tea garden and much more. Entrance to the event is also free.

Ry-Ma-In urgently requires help for their fundraising endeavours and are calling on all Randburg residents to rise to the challenge. Items that can be donated toward their nursery stall like plants, seeds, bulbs, bags of soil or rocks/pebbles will gladly be collected by staff before the fête.

Any old books, clothing, linen, toys, house-hold items, electrical appliances and old furniture residents no longer want or have space for can be delivered at Ry-Ma-In, or arrange for it to be collected. Volunteers of any kind are also welcome.

Details: Ry-Ma-In 011 888 3335.
