Carols by Candlelight, a time for family and giving

NORTHGATE – The spirit of cheer is brought to various charities this Christmas.

The Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate was transformed into a Christmas spectacular on 2 December.

Jacaranda FM and My Spar came together to raise funds for various charities this Christmas.

The public was asked to bring along one toy. These toys will be distributed to different charities on Christmas Day.

South African National Blood Service (SANBS), was also at the event for people who wanted to donate blood, and help save lives, as more blood will be needed during the festive season, due to road accidents.

Station manager of Jacaranda FM, Kevin Fine said “Jacaranda has a strong focus on family and a very rich tradition of working with young families.”

Fine explained that the Carols by Candlelight was started in order to bring families together and to enjoy some of South Africa’s best local artists and also to give back to charity.

The Carols by Candlelight will be held at two venues this year, the Dome and in Centurion on 4 December.

Carols by Candlelight raised R46 000 from the sale of candles and songbooks at the Dome and 116 boxes of toys were collected.

All proceeds will go to the Jacaranda FM Good Morning Angels Fund.
