MAD (Making A Difference) held its Domestic Watch year-end and certificate attendance awards ceremony on 20 November at the Rosebank Union Church.
The purpose of the awards ceremony is to give recognition and show appreciation to the attendees for their commitment to fighting crime and being the eyes and the ears of the police.
All attendees were in a celebratory mood, dancing and singing in the auditorium.
The year-end function was the climax to a year of inspiring and training domestics and gardeners on how to prevent crime and how to pass on information without putting their lives in jeopardy.
”The event was just absolutely exceptional, with support from vast numbers of people. During the year I had so many of “my” people come quietly and humbly to me, to tell me their amazing bravery and successes in preventing shocking crime, actually being instrumental in capturing criminals. How amazing is that,” said Penny Steyn from the Domestic Watch and SAPS Customer Service Training.
Supporters included, but were not limited to, resident associations, Community Police Forums, the Department of Community Safety,Crime Line, BSK Marketing, Suntoy, Firzt Realty, ADT, and the Rosebank Union Church.
The police got on stage with the MAD choir, coordinators and all sponsors who were able to be there, the police saluted the attendees and everyone sang the National Anthem.
“Absolutely an awesome end to an outstanding day,” concluded Steyn.
