Two armed robberies in one day

LINDEN - Two cases of housebreaking and robbery have been opened at the Linden Police Station.

Two separate incidents of robbery occurred in Linden where residents were tied up on 5 May. One of the robberies took place in Darrenwood where two occupants from a residence were robbed at about 1.30pm.

According to Linden Police Station spokesperson Captain Alex Vermaak, the occupants saw the robbers coming through the gate.They were then forced into a corner of the house and tied up.”They were asked for safe keys, however there was no safe. Electronic devices were stolen as well as a Hyundai i10 vehicle,” said Vermaak.

The second robbery took place around 6.45pm in Linden, where the occupant was house-sitting for his brother. According to Capt Vermaak the man went outside for a smoke when he was confronted by two men. “The men were armed with an axe and a knife. The men forced the man into the house and tied him up with shoelaces. He managed to untie himself,” explained Capt Vermaak. Electronics were stolen from the property.

Capt Vermaak urged the community to remain vigilant at all times and make sure that their doors and gates are locked. He asked that alarms are activated at night as well.

Suspects are still at large and both cases are under investigation.
