Complex lawn in ruins after fibre is laid

RANDPARK RIDGE – All over Randburg suburbs, optic fibre is being installed and this means that pavements and gardens end up being dug up to insert the fibre pipes.

The advent of technology is exciting as it brings improvement in the way things are done, however, for complex trustee Marcus Bowef, it’s been frustrating.

All over Randburg suburbs, optic fibre is being installed and this means that pavements and gardens end up being dug up to insert the fibre pipes. Bowef said when they were first notified of the work to be done by Huawei, they received a letter detailing the work to be done as well as promises that all properties would be left in their original state – a promise that Bowef said was not fulfilled.

“While the Huawei workers were laying the fibre front of our complex in Randpark Ridge, we had numerous problems such as the trenches being dug in front of access gate preventing residents from gaining access to the property, cables being left exposed and manholes left protruding from the ground on the inside of our complex,” he explained.

Bowef pointed out that their gardener had maintained the gardening inside and out before the work started and lamented that their lawns were in perfect order before the fibre was installed.

He alleged that the complex lawn was now terribly patched up and extra pieces have just been dumped on the sides and even in the flower beds. Where there was once grass it is just bare ground.

“The condition of our front entrance is horrific and as a trustee, we have to answer to the complex residents as to why the property is in such a state.”

He added that the Huawei workers had damaged two of their sprinklers and just left them broken.

Questions were sent to Xolani Khumalo of Huawei.
