Linden choreographer judges USA competition
LINDEN – Jansen believes that some day the local dance community will be leaders in the world of dance.
Quintus Jansen recently returned to South Africa from the United States (USA) where he was invited to judge the prestigious Eastern United States Dancesport Championships.

Jansen is the choreographer, founder and co-owner of Linden’s local dance studio, Dance Culture Studios, and he took four of SA’s top ballroom and Latin American couples with him to participate in the champs.
They took on the challenge and scooped a number of titles and podium places in various dance sections in both the Eastern United States Dancesport Championships and the exciting New York Dance Festival.

The couples, who represented South Africa, performed exceptionally well and took first, second and third places in their different sections.
Jansen knows how valuable this experience is for the South African dance community.
“It’s not just us who have grown so much with exposure to competitions of this calibre, but the greater South African dance community as a whole. All of us have returned inspired and with more knowledge and we will ensure that all the dancers we teach or interact with receive this knowledge to improve their dancing,” he said.
He explained that it was wonderful to see the dancers on the right track, as they moved from their social or pro-amateur dancing to their competitive dancing.
“We want to become the leaders some day,” he said.
The Dance Culture Studios aims to take African talent to the world. Jansen thanked the local dance community for supporting the successful fundraiser they hosted to assist the couples with their trip the USA.
“The community really pulled together for our fundraiser,” said Kim Jansen.
