Redfest returns with a bang
This year’s Redhill Arts Festival was bigger and better than ever, shining a light on the phenomenal standard of theatre, music and art in South Africa.
This year’s Redhill Arts Festival brought the Morningside campus alive, offering an array of theatre shows, art exhibitions, live music and so much more.
Bigger and better than ever, some of the country’s biggest names in theatre, music and arts united for this year’s three-day festival on July 29.
According to school executive head Joseph Gerassi, this year’s event was aimed at providing families and friends with an experience where they can make some much-needed memories all while enjoying the finest dramatic products and musical performances.
“Not only [were] we hoping to provide the wider Joburg community with an event unlike anything else that they have experienced in Gauteng, but any surplus funds raised will be used to broaden the scope of next year’s event, reach an even wider audience, and ensure that all artists are paid generously for the many months of work that go into each production.”
Across all three days, there was a selection of kids’ shows and theatre performances suitable for every audience.
The highlight event, the musical festival on July 30, was a crowd favourite with acts such as the Electronic Drum Movement, Ayanda MVP, Shekhinah and Matthew Mole bringing audiences to their feet.
The weekend-long festival concluded with a Sunday Family Picnic with entertainment from the likes of the St Mary’s School Jazz Band, the St Peter’s Marimba Band as well as the Grayston Preparatory School Choir.
