Braais raise money for Northwold resident Tom Sundawo
Tom Sundawo has been confined to a wheelchair since he was shot in 2007. These monthly braais will raise money for his care.
Monthly braais are being hosted as fundraisers by Ann Harding Cheshire Home for one of its most well-known and beloved residents.
Tom Sundawo watched on with a smile as all through the day residents, their family, friends, and kind strangers from the community popped in to buy a boerewors roll and cooldrink, and have a chat and show support on October 1.
The residential care facility in Northwold caters to 40 adults who have a physical disability.

Accommodation fees do not cover everything the facility provides to residents, so there is a charity shop, online store, music nights and monthly pop-up markets.
More information about these can be found on the facility’s social media pages.
Sundawo has been confined to a wheelchair since he was shot in the head execution style during an armed robbery, just before his 25th birthday in 2007.
He was working as a manager at a restaurant in Auckland Park at the time.
His life has never been the same, but still, he maintains a positive attitude.
Sundawo works as a quality controller for M-Sure for whom he listens to call recordings.
This helps cover his accommodation and care at Ann Harding Cheshire Home but it is not enough and every year a soccer fundraiser is held at Old Parktonian Sports Club for him.
Speaking at the braai, he thanked everyone for their support and looked forward to seeing them regularly.
The ‘braai 4-a-cause’ is held at the home on the first Saturday of each month from 09:00 until 13:00.
