Testimonials from happy adopters from the Randburg SPCA

A happy pet will grant you a good life, I bet.

Every week, the Randburg SPCA put up a number of their animals that are searching for a new place to call home. The Randburg SPCA has gladly shared testimonials from some of their happy adopters.

Elmien Burger writes:

“We adopted Tomodachi (a friend in Japanese) less than a month ago. He is an adult male with an unknown history. Our other cat Kaiju needed a companion as we recently lost his buddy Stevie to cancer.

I met Tomodachi at the Randburg SPCA and fell in love at first sight, he was both playful and affectionate. We had some effort adjusting him to our home and routine but always remembered that he is new and his challenge to adapt to an entirely new environment is greater than ours, only adapting to one little cat. Little by little we got to know him, his likes, dislikes and little quirks. Every little milestone relaxed him a little more, like going outside for the first time and sleeping on the big bed with Kaiju and the hoomans. He bites when he gets excited, but always plays with his nails retracted.

We still have some fine-tuning to do, as in sleeping through the night would really be great, but we are heading in the right direction. Tomodachi and Kaiju are getting along well most of the time, they love to play and run together. Kaiju gets a little irritated by Tomodachi’s enthusiasm sometimes, in time they will figure out their own rules.

My husband and I are both in love with this quirky cat that bobs his head and makes little sounds as he walks. Tomodachi is the fourth adult male cat that I have adopted, Kaiju, Stevie and Tiger many years ago are the other three. All of them have adjusted perfectly, I believe because they have known a difficult life before being rescued, they show appreciation for a good home much more than kittens do.

We are really glad that Tomodachi joined our family, we don’t expect him to replace Stevie, but he has already brought a lot of joy while we are still mourning. He is living up to his name, being a friend to all of us.”
