Radley Private School celebrated World Environment Day

The principal of Radley Private School said that days like World Environment Day remind us that we often take convenience for granted- without realising the long-term consequences.

Charlotte Ramparsad, CEO of Green Glasses, joined parents and students at Radley Private School to educate and celebrate World Environment Day.

The entrepreneurs were exposed to information regarding this important day. They engaged in various question-and-answer exercises and were gifted with “earth-friendly” items to help reinforce the simple changes they can make to protect the earth.

The foundation phase learners received reusable bags, whilst the intermediate and senior phase learners received various seeds that they can plant. Their packaging is designed to allow the seed to grow and receive all required nutrients without any waste products.

Principal, Charne’ De Gouveia said that Environment Day is vital to reinforcing the necessity of protecting and preserving the natural world.

“Our entrepreneurs are growing up in a world where past choices are affecting their daily lives – climate change, pollution and mass wastage are just some examples. Through small changes that each family makes, we are able to make the right choices and preserve the earth for future generations. “

Learners were taught about the importance of looking after the planet and the small changes they can make to play their part.

“The key takeaway from the talk was the necessity of smarter choices, simple changes and creating a world where everyone can be an ‘ecopreneur’ – a term used to illustrate how job creation and environmental protection can go hand in hand.”

She added that moving forward: young entrepreneurs can educate their own families and friends, external to Radley, to make the simple change of reducing plastic wastage and making a more conscious effort to protect the world around them.
