The fight is scheduled to be a 10 rounds lightweight bout, organised by Boxing 5 Promotions. K9 goes to the fight full of confidence, fresh from a fourth-round stoppage win over Ghanaian boxer Mohammed Wasiru in November last year.

Kaine ‘K9’ Fourie is ready for Simon Ngoma.

Ngoma is number one ranked in his country and top 100 in the world. Fourie explained that Ngoma is going to be a good opponent. “I don’t know much about him, but we fight what’s in front of us, and we adapt quickly to any fighter. My expectation for any fight is that I know it’s going to be a good bout, cause I’m a big dog and I know how to put on a show, especially in this tournament, which is going to be broadcast on SuperSport.”

He added that the preparations are going well. They do not change much, sticking to their normal routine like they always do. “The training is the same. The only difference is the opponent, but the preparation is still very hard and good. So, every day we try to improve on certain things, but on fight night I need to fight what’s in front of me, and adapt, taking in all the learning from training, but also adding more.”

Asked if he feels physically and emotionally ready for the fight, he explained that normally, when he has a fight day, his emotions change a lot. But he is ready to go because of the hard work he puts in every day at the training sessions. “I am always up for the task. No matter what it takes, I am going to leave everything in the ring and make sure I come out victorious… God willingly. I will take my ratings up even more after this fight, and like I always say: K9 is not a local fighter, but an international.”

He added that the fans can expect fireworks, like always, when he is in the ring in a sell-out arena.
