The school held its annual picnic on the school field, which aimed to encourage kindness and love for one another. The learners from all grades brought picnic blankets and food to share, as they dressed up in red and white to match the Valentine’s Day colours. The teachers were also out on the field, enjoying a time out with cupcakes and tea.

Gerda Buys, the high school principal, explained that they do not focus on romantic love, but rather just kindness for each other and their neighbours. It was a fun day for everyone to enjoy. “The day was a success. The weather was a bit tricky this year. We were not sure, but the sun came out and it was a beautiful day.

“The learners are always very excited for the picnic because we also give each child a little card with a scripture about love, and a chocolate, so, they all get something. They also have parents packing special food for them to bring with to school, to share with others.”

The learners also enjoyed a long break with music and live performances.
