The proposed scope of work includes:

• Refurbishment of single-track routes for mountain bikers, hikers, and joggers, including earthworks and landscaping.
• Refurbishment of internal paved roads and implementation of stormwater management systems.
• Installation of concrete bollards, benches, and bins to improve park facilities.
• Renovation of play areas for children and families.
• Installation of new signage, to enhance navigation within the park.
• Refurbishment of the entrance area, and installation of a new gate.

The project is intended to make the park more accessible, sustainable, and enjoyable for all visitors. However, discussions at the meeting also highlighted some of the park’s ongoing challenges:

• The septic tank at the depot frequently overflows, causing sanitation concerns.
• Damaged internal paved roads hinder accessibility.
• Lack of stormwater management leads to excessive soil erosion.
• Broken wooden barriers result in vehicles parking anywhere.
• Inadequate signage makes navigation difficult.
• Deteriorating mountain bike routes render them unsuitable for use.

Resident Jean-Paul Castel shared his thoughts on the meeting, stating, “I’m happy with the information provided, and everything they explained made sense. It sounds pretty good. However, I’m disappointed that they aren’t addressing the bigger problems such as the issues we have with the dam wall that is falling apart, I feel like these improvements are purely cosmetic.”

The proposed improvements aim to address immediate concerns while enhancing the park’s facilities. Residents hope further action will be taken to resolve the larger issues impacting the park’s usability and safety.

The timeline for the project’s implementation has not yet been announced, but stakeholders are encouraged to stay engaged as plans move forward.
