Officially reopening their doors in 2024, Samba Heat Dance offers 25 different dance styles, from standard ballroom, to Carribean styles, anything a dance enthusiast could need.
Samba Heat Dance, a proud member of the National Dance Society, World Artistic Dance Federation, and South African Artistic Dance Association, is inviting local dancers to their studio at the Blairgowrie Recreation Centre.

The dance studio offers ballroom, Latin American smooth and rhythm, Afro Latin, first wedding dance, and Caribbean dance styles. They cater for all age groups from as early as 4 years old.

TJ Phutsisi-Zakade, of the dance studio, explained that while dance is generally regarded as just a hobby, Samba Heat Dance was established with two motives: A contribution to the society’s improvement of physical and mental health through enjoyable activity, and a fun reintroduction of moral etiquette through Latin and ballroom dance. Phutsisi-Zakade said that just by merely having a dance routine, one’s physical and mental health changes for the better.

Officially back in Blairgowrie since 2024, the studio started off with Latin and standard ballroom syllabi, which incorporates ten dances. As time went by, they added more genres. They currently have, in addition to the original ten, four Carribean style dances, and ten American style dances. “In total, we currently have 25 dance styles, from three genres, and we are open to adding more genres, based on need.”

As Samba Heat Dance is under the leadership of a dedicated Latin and Showdance professional dancer, growth and improvement in performance, and understanding of dance, is of utmost importance. “We always encourage our dancers to take part in competitions hosted by registered Dancesport associations, as well as attend workshops by same. We also register our competitive dancers for medal testing by one trusted association. While it is each dancer’s prerogative to choose whether to partake in competitions or not, we encourage our dancers to enter our selected competitions, as well as sister-studios’ fundraising events.”
