Career week at IIE-Vega empowers students with work-readiness skills

Students at IIE-Vega, in Bordeaux, gained some valuable information at the school's annual career week, learning how to apply for a job, how to spruce up their CVs, and how to leverage LinkedIn.

Independent Institute of Education (IIE)-Vega Bordeaux, recently hosted its annual career week to equip students with essential job skills through interactive workshops, industry insights, and first-hand career coaching

The initiative is part of IIE-Vega’s commitment to preparing students for a competitive workforce by offering guidance on job applications, CV development, LinkedIn branding presence, and interview preparation.

The IIE-Vega Voice Career Services Committee created awareness about the career services platform. They also provided practical advice on job applications, portfolio development, and leveraging LinkedIn Learning for professional growth.

Students also had the opportunity to ignite their creativity by creating vision boards, visually mapping out their professional aspirations and setting clear goals to turn their dreams into reality.

Adding to the week’s value, school’s alumni returned to campus to share their experiences, offering real world insights and practical advice on navigating the transition from student life to the working world.

Francine Mashabela, IIE-Vega career services manager, explained that career readiness begins long before graduation. “To gain an edge in the industry, students can access interactive career resources and tools on CV and interview preparation, job hunting strategies, career assessments, e-learning, and professional networking techniques through our career services platform.”

Praneetha Aniruth, Carver Media Partner, shared insider tips on securing a first job, and standing out in a competitive job market. She said employers are looking for candidates with an edge – those who bring innovation, confidence, and strategic thinking to the table.

She urged students to take a proactive approach to career preparation, and to ensure that they have an amazing LinkedIn profile because that’s where recruiters and employers will find them.
