Repairs on Rand Water pipeline complete, some areas still experiencing water disruptions
JW has confirmed that urgent repairs on the Rand Water F12/F39 pipeline are now finished.
Johannesburg Water (JW) has confirmed that essential emergency repairs on the Rand Water F12/F39 bulk pipeline have now been completed. While this is a positive step forward, the process of restoring the normal water supply is still ongoing. Rand Water is continuing to pump at full capacity to help stabilise the system, but it will take some time before full recovery is achieved.
The recent shutdown has affected several areas across the city, with some reservoirs in Soweto, the Commando System, Randburg/Roodepoort, and Deep South experiencing low or no water supply. JW will be sharing a detailed update later this morning to keep residents informed about the recovery progress in each area.

It’s important to understand that, based on previous similar incidents, some parts of the city may recover quicker than others. However, residents should expect that full-service restoration could still take several days. During this period, some households might notice reduced water pressure or no water at all.
JW is working hand in hand with Rand Water to monitor the situation closely. They are making system adjustments to speed up recovery wherever possible. Overnight, reservoir outlets were closed to help boost water levels, and where levels improved, outlets were reopened earlier today.

To help ease the impact on residents, alternative water supplies are being organised. This includes deploying water tankers and stationary tanks to support communities most affected by the outages.
JW thanks everyone for their patience and understanding during this challenging time. Rest assured, all efforts are focused on restoring normal water services as quickly as possible, and further updates will be provided soon.
