Johannesburg Roads Agency partially attends to potholes on Patrys Road

JRA has fixed a few of the potholes on roads in Randpark Ridge, but councillor Devon Steenkamp says they’ve left the worst ones.

Ward 134 councillor Devon Steenkamp has confirmed that Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA) has attended to and repaired potholes on Patrys Road in Randpark Ridge, but hasn’t done a very good job.

The road was completely covered in potholes, causing frustration for residents. They have been reporting and escalating the matter for over a year.

Steenkamp explained that, at first, it was a welcoming sight to see JRA finally attending to potholes in the area, but that didn’t last long.

“Only a few potholes were attended to in the Kelly Park area, particularly on Patrys Road and surrounding streets. What’s concerning is the inconsistency that several large, hazardous potholes were left untouched, while smaller ones were patched. It’s a half-done job at best.”

He said that the entity committed to completing the Ward 134 priority pothole list by July 1.

“After that date, I will personally assess the area and write to the MMC for Transport to ask how he plans to hold his department accountable for this poor performance, as I expect many potholes to be not completed by that date.”
