Ward 98 streetlight repairs bring hope
Ward 98’s streetlight repairs show progress as residents continue reporting outages and pushing for reliable service delivery through a growing campaign led by Cllr Jacobs.
The Fix Our Street Lights campaign, launched on June 23, 2025, by Ward 98 councillor Beverley Jacobs, is already making a visible difference in the community.
Several areas have seen progress thanks to the active involvement of residents and ongoing communication with City Power. Streetlights along Republic Road, between Windsor Glen and Robinglen, have been repaired. Peach Drive and the surrounding streets are finally lit again after being in darkness for five years. In Windsor West, partial success has been achieved, with several streetlights now operational.

On July 9, Jacobs confirmed that the Mimosa Street light issue in Randpark Ridge has been escalated and handed over to a City Power team leader. She thanked resident Raymond for his persistence in keeping the issue on the agenda.
A heartfelt thanks was also extended to Janine, Judy Draper, Ilza, and others for their dedication to the campaign. “Your vigilance and commitment are helping us drive this campaign forward,” said Jacobs.
However, Jacobs emphasised that this work should not require a special campaign. “While we are celebrating these wins, let’s be clear: this should not be a campaign, it should be standard service delivery.”
She urged residents to continue reporting streetlight faults using the dedicated online form: here
“Until we reach a point where the city delivers proactively, we’ll continue pushing forward light by light,” she said.
