Motorists urged to avoid President Fouché following heavy rain

The main route through Boskruin has experienced significant flooding, with motorists being forced to turn around.

Motorists are urged to avoid President Fouché Road this morning (February 11) due to severe flooding in the dip between Boskruin and CR Swart Drive. The road is submerged in both directions, making it unsafe for travel.

A blocked curb inlet is believed to be the cause of the flooding. At least one vehicle has already been stranded, facing oncoming traffic. Motorists attempting to travel from Boskruin to Malibongwe or vice versa are advised to seek alternative routes.

Ward councillor Ralf Bittkau has confirmed that the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has been alerted and will dispatch a team to assess and resolve the issue as soon as possible. However, it remains unclear how long it will take for the water to subside and for repairs to be made.

Motorists have been urged to avoid the route due to flooding between Boskruin and CR Swart Drive.

The affected section of President Fouché Road has been problematic in the past, with recurring drainage issues and a recently repaired pothole. The latest flooding raises concerns about the effectiveness of stormwater management in the area.

Residents and commuters are urged to exercise caution when driving in wet conditions and to avoid attempting to cross flooded roads.

Emergency services and local authorities will continue to monitor the situation, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
