Community Heroes clean up aim at restoring pride

Community Heroes group members and volunteers gave their time to clean up the area along President Fouche Drive.

Community Heroes group and volunteers gave up fours hours of their day for another successful clean up on June 28.

They cleaned up along President Fouché Drive from Kelly Avenue up to Kowies Street volunteers of all ages came together to clear, beautify, and uplift a stretch of road that had been forgotten for far too long.

The community showed up and gave their time some businesses in the area offered support.

Cars passed by with hoots of encouragement and waves of appreciation.

This project, led by Community Heroes made up of residents from Boksruin, Bromhof and surrounding areas is more than cleaning up. It’s about giving back and recognising a role to play.

Vicka Petrishko of the group explained that the clean ups are a transformation of the entire neighborhood.

“It about restoring pride and respect in the area so that we can all love our environment. We are also taking ownership of the things where service delivery have failed instead of complaining we do something about it.”
