Cosmo City’s Mkwedini Jingxeni Foundation cares, bringing smiles to those in need

Cosmo City non-profit organisation delivers essential donations to those in need, bringing hope and support to residents.

Out of love for her community, Bolekwa Jingxeni, and her husband Zongezile, started a non-profit organisation called the Mkwedini Jingxeni Foundation, which aims to help the needy.

They go around collecting old clothes that people no longer wear but are still in good condition, as well as school shoes from learners who are taking their matric exams, to support those in need. They also distribute food to those who need it.

Bolekwa mentioned that her organisation does not discriminate or hold any homophobic views. They provide food, clothes, and school shoes to anyone who needs them, however, their top priority is South African residents, as most of their donors are from South Africa, with clothing outlets Legit and Ackermans, in Cosmo Mall and Northgate Mall, being their biggest supporters. Whenever she seeks help from these outlets, they are always ready to assist.

“My husband has been very supportive,” she added. “Some items, like body lotions and deodorants, are difficult to find through donations. So, he personally takes money from his own pocket to buy these items to give them to people who come to our home asking for assistance.

“I wish to do more. However, the space I have in my house is very limited, because we store all the items we’ve been donated in our home. Since my husband and I don’t have enough money to buy food packages for everyone, we were thinking of starting a soup kitchen, so that many people can have something to eat on weekends, but we don’t have an extra room, or enough funds to buy all the essentials needed to get started.”

Since its registration in early 2023, the foundation has helped many families, whether by purchasing school uniforms for underprivileged children or providing food where possible. They are always ready to assist community members struggling to make ends meet.

They would be grateful if people could support their mission and help them find a place to start their soup kitchen, as well as contribute donations.
