Lyceum College confirms it is still registered after false claims to the contrary
Following widespread social media confusion, Lyceum College clarified it was not affected by the department of higher education and training’s notice to cancel registrations of non-compliant colleges.
Lyceum College has reassured students and the public that it remains fully registered, following false claims circulating on social media that suggested the institution had been deregistered.
The college said it was not listed in the notice of intent to cancel registration issued on December 13, 2025, by Minister of Higher Education and Training Buti Manamela. The notice applies only to three private higher education institutions: Damelin, City Varsity, and ICESA City Campus.

Lyceum College said the incorrect information originated from a fraudulent social media account falsely claiming to represent the department of basic education, which has since publicly distanced itself from the claims.
The college emphasised that it is regulated by the department of higher education and training, and its registration remains valid. Academic programmes continue without interruption under new ownership, which has strengthened governance and compliance.

Students and stakeholders are encouraged to verify the college’s registration status through the department of higher education and training’s official register and official college communication channels.
