Zandspruit gets a fresh start as CPF patrollers revamp their base

Community policing volunteers in Zandspruit took matters into their own hands this week, sprucing up their container office and celebrating the patrollers who keep their neighbourhood safe.

Honeydew CPF Sector 4 patrollers rolled up their sleeves to revamp their container office in Zandspruit, marking one of the first major initiatives aimed at uplifting the team and strengthening its presence in the community.

The project brought together keynote speakers, members of the Honeydew CPF executive committee, and community partners for a day of hard work, recognition, and reflection.

A highlight of the occasion was the handover of the first ten reflector jackets to the Zandspruit patrol co-ordinator, a practical step towards better equipping those who keep the area safe. Patrollers who give their time day and night to protect Zandspruit were also awarded certificates in recognition of their dedication and commitment.

The day was made possible through generous contributions from a number of local businesses and individuals. Universal Paint Randpark Ridge sponsored the paint used to freshen up the container, while Hamiltons supplied the brushes. Meat World Jackal Creek provided meat and side dishes for attendees, and Pastor Sipho Magagula supplied chairs, tables, and a sound system. A pastor, from All Grace Church, arranged photos and videos of the event, and FootGolf sponsored goodie bags for the occasion. City Parks also donated ten new trees, which the team looks forward to planting in the near future.

“Together, these efforts are helping to build a stronger, more united community,” said Michael Steyn, Honeydew CPF public relations officer.
