Mets meet their match in the Imps
PRAEGVILLE – The Randburg Mets Baseball Club and Edenvale Imps play a colossal U12 baseball match.
It was a beautiful day for baseball, as blue skies and a fierce sun gazed down on an equally dazzling scenario on the field in a game between the U12 teams of the Randburg Mets Baseball Club and the Edenvale Imps.
The youngsters were playing in an important game approaching the middle of the U12 Gauteng Crossover Baseball League, at the grounds in Praegville on 13 November. Both sides were extremely competitive, giving everything they had for the win.
But the Imps batters were able to spend more time on the bases, and then return home for runs, due to several fielding errors by the Mets. After the three frames, the Imps had won 12–4.

“It was a cool game, our pitchers did well getting the Mets batters out, and applied pressure with strikes,” said Imps coach, Craig Keylock.
For Mets coach, Glen Gillman, the mistakes made by the Mets were ‘knowledge issues and not talent issues’, so they could be easily fixed. “We had some throws to the wrong bases and also base running errors,” he said.
“We can work on these things and come back with a bang.” He added that the club has U9, U12, U15 and senior teams, and invited anyone interested in the sport to contact the club and try it out.
