Junior baseball star seeks funds for USA trip
Courtney Campbell has been selected for the SA Junior Ladies Baseball Team ahead of a tournament in Illinois, but needs R65 000 to make the trip.
A young Randburg baseball player is appealing to the public for financial support, after being selected to represent her country at an international junior tournament in the United States next month.
Courtney Campbell has earned a place in the SA Junior Ladies Baseball Team, which will compete in Rockford, Illinois, from July 17 to 27. The tournament marks a significant milestone for Courtney, who sees the opportunity as a chance to grow as an athlete and to contribute to the development of women’s baseball in South Africa. “This opportunity means everything to me. It’s not just about playing the sport I love, it’s about proudly representing my country and being part of something much bigger than myself.”

Like many baseball players in South Africa, Courtney and her family are expected to cover the costs of the trip themselves. The total amount required is R65 000, which will go towards travel, accommodation, meals, and tournament participation fees.

Courtney has launched a fundraising campaign, and is calling on members of the public to contribute whatever they can. She says even those unable to donate can help by sharing the campaign with others.

Women’s baseball remains a developing discipline in South Africa, and Courtney’s selection to the national junior squad reflects both her individual talent and the quiet but steady growth of the sport at grassroots level. Her appearance at the Rockford tournament would place her among a small group of South African women competing in baseball on the international stage.
Those wishing to support Courtney’s campaign can reach out directly to her coach, Rina Adams, on +27 74 915 2062 to contribute, or to share her fundraising appeal.
