Thobani (16) aims to hit the back of the professional net

Greenhills Super Tigers Academy youngster wants to impress Mamelodi Sundowns and do what he does best – score goals.

Thobani Mlondi Nhlangothi (19) lives, eats, and breathes soccer.

The Greenhills resident still remembers his first match at age nine and stated that he has always had a passion for the sport. As Thobani grew up (and besides being involved in many other athletics sports such as cross country and field events), he knew he wanted to become a maestro on the soccer field, and so he decided to join the Greenhills Super Tigers Academy at 15.

At 16, Thobani received the title of captain, which he proudly kept for three successive years.

He claimed that his favourite part about soccer is dribbling and the positive mindsets of the coaches during training sessions.

Today, the youngster hopes to become a household name and one of his biggest aspirations is to be selected for Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club. Although he plays left-attacking midfielder, Thobani claims to have scored almost 600 goals in his lifetime.

“My biggest motivation is my parents who always help to keep my feet grounded. I want to make them proud.”
