Herald bids farewell to journalist
Randfontein Herald journalist Mbali Maqhwara bids the community farewell after one year and five months.
This marks my last piece of work for the Randfontein Herald as its senior journalist and it brings me so much joy to say that I have had the most wonderful time working with the Rand West community.
Having started my journey with the Herald in August 2022, it also pains me to know that I will be leaving such a warm organisation and its people after exactly one year and five months, and I will miss the place.
Although I have given the decision much thought, what saddens me the most is knowing that I will not be engaging with the Rand West City community on a much deeper level anymore.
For what it’s worth, I truly had an amazing time working with people from different walks of life around the region and I’ve had the most amazing time telling your stories.
I’ve been in the industry in both print and radio for more than eight years and I’ve always found it fulfilling being on the ground with residents. I can truly say that I have given it my best and I leave with a full heart knowing that I was able to offer a listening ear and a helping hand where it was needed the most.
Thank you to our readers for trusting me with your stories and thank you for the opportunity of allowing me to be your voice and telling your stories on a bigger scale.
I will always cherish the people I’ve crossed paths with and those who have always taken the time to read my work. Wishing you a fruitful year ahead.
