Massive accident claims a life
The driver of the truck was trapped inside his vehicle while the other driver managed to come out alive.
A massive accident between a truck and a Peugeot occurred on the N12 in Westonaria on 22 November and claimed the life of a truck driver.
It is currently unclear as to how the incident occurred but Westonaria SAPS spokesperson Thembi Masango says that upon arrival at the scene, the driver of the truck was trapped inside his vehicle while the other driver managed to come out alive.
“We received a call about the accident and upon arrival together with medical services, nothing could be done for the truck driver.
“He was declared dead at the scene and he had to be removed from the truck tactically.
“The other driver sustained major injuries and had to be transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment,” says Masango.
She adds that the cause of the accident will likely remain unknown until such a time that the driver of the Peugeot is released from hospital
“It is only then that can he make a statement about what really transpired.
“Until then, we remain clueless on the events that led to the accident,” says Masango.
