Double blow for motorists

It's a bad day for motorists with E-toll going live and the price of petrol skyrocketing.

Motorists will have to brace themselves for a double shock today as, in addition to the dreaded E-toll system going live today, it has been announced that the price of petrol will also increase substantially.

The Department of Energy has announced that the price of petrol will increase by a whopping 17 cents per litre, and the price of diesel will increase by 10 cents per litre at midnight tonight (3 December).

Media reports have indicated that while some motorists have resorted to getting e-tags, a large number of them are still rejecting this system with many

having opted to use alternative routes this morning in order to get to their destinations.

According to Randfontein resident and motorist Vincent Kruger, this is a double slap in the face for motorists.

“As it I am already struggling keeping up with the price of petrol.

“This is just too much,

“We cannot be expected to cough up so much money in order to get to work.

“Our salaries just do not allow for this,” says Kruger.
