Randfontein cop leaves rifle unattended

A Randfontein police officer has been caught on camera while leaving his firearm, an R5 rifle, unattended at a local carwash in Randfontein.

Images of the vehicle in question, marked RF94, were posted on social media where people complained about this negligent act by the officer.

Subsequently the Herald has submitted the information obtained from the social platforms to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst who condemns such conduct and says that the matter will be investigated.

“We as the police do not condone such actions by one of our own members and this issue will be dealt with after investigations have been concluded,” says Ernst.
