Two men, aged between 26 and 28, were arrested shortly after breaking into a house in Xuma Street, Bekkersdal.
Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, said the incident happened shortly after midnight on Friday, 18 June.
“It is alleged that when the victim left his home, all was in order, but when he returned he was surprised to find his security door wide open. He went into the house to check and discovered that his plasma TV was missing.
“He decided to follow the wheelie bin tracks that he had noticed in his yard until they reached a certain yard. As he entered to investigate, he found a man with his plasma. The victim immediately contacted the police and the man with the TV led them to his accomplice.”
Both suspects will be charged with housebreaking and theft and are expected to appear in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court soon.
