Casual Day with an entrepreneurial twist

Grade 2 to 6 learners at Avante Primary were taught the ins and outs of running a business on Casual Day.

Grade 2 to 6 learners at Avante Primary School were introduced to entrepreneurial lessons that were incorporated into Casual Day on Friday, 7 September.

Mphikeleli Mafilika, coordinator and teacher of Economic Management Studies (EMS), said presenting entrepreneurial lessons to the learners at their age will go a long way in the future.

“Most importantly, it will also help them not rely on employers for employment.”

Mphikeleli added that this is the foundation level, where learners can be taught how to run a business in every sphere of the profession they choose.

“This will also fine-tune their entrepreneurial skills by simply starting things on their own. We had activities where learners simulated ways of running their businesses and how they can manage money in the process,” Mphikeleli added.
