The Randfontein Police recently led a school search campaign at Randfontein Secondary School (RSS).
According to Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, the Randfontein Police spokesperson, learners in Grade 10, 11, and 12 were searched during the visit.

Hendricks said the sole objective of the campaign is to rid schools in and around town of illegal items that learners may be carrying with them to the school premises, and may threaten the safety of other learners, educators and even management of the school.

“We were simply promoting the safety of the school environment. We’re also glad that management of the school recognised the search as a proactive intervention to prevent and deter any form of activities that could threaten anyone within the premises of the school,” Hendricks said.

Other organisations such as the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), CPF patrollers, Women Against Women and Child Abuse (WAWA), and Flexi A Shift were also part of the programme.
