Introducing Nicolette Kiewietz as DA candidate councillor

Another DA candidate councillor answers a few questions before the upcoming local elections.

Nicolette Kiewietz, 47, Democratic Alliance (DA) local elections candidate councillor for Ward 10 recently answered the Herald’s questions regarding the upcoming elections.

1. What have you done during your time in office?

I have attempted a big role to the best of my ability by questioning all the failed projects in my community by submitting written questions to council; motions; reporting the matter to the office of the Public Protector and tackling issues in Rand West City, like the non-delivery of services.

2. If you were elected, what would you focus on and why?

My plans include the rehabilitation of roads in Ward 10 which is desperately needed, as well as proper working storm water drainage systems, rehabilitation of illegal dumping areas into sustainable projects that can create employment, and increase small businesses in our community.

Making my community great again by putting the power and responsibility in their hands, eliminating poverty and fighting the social ills in our community, ensuring that our recreational facilities are restored and our housing project is a success.

3. Why should the community vote for you?

The well-being of my community lies dear to my heart. As a former official at Toekomsrus Satellite Office I was inspired by the community. I encourage people to vote for me so that not only me but all of us may change our community and grow to a greater, sustainable, motivated and productive society.

4. Outside of your council duties, how are you involved in the community?

My passion is youth skills and education, therefore I have assisted in the Toekomsrus skills centre in conjunction with Rand West City Local Municipality, Busmark, Sibanye Gold and Gauteng Community College to ensure that our youth get skills and employment opportunities.

Our young people have been idle for too long and many opportunities have passed them by.
