Another CIT heist hits West Rand: Four injured

Another cash-in-transit heist on the far West Rand left four people injured.

Four people were injured during a cash-in-transit (CIT) heist on the R501 in Carletonville on the far West Rand on Saturday afternoon, December 11.

ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen said when their paramedics arrived on scene they found a cash van standing in the middle of the road.

“The van had allegedly been blown open with explosives. Four people, understood to be the two guards and two support vehicle occupants, were found walking around at the scene.

Paramedics assessed them and found that they had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. ER24 paramedics, along with another medical service at the scene, treated the patients before transporting them to hospital for further medical care.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not known to our paramedics, but the police were on the scene for further investigations.”
