Bekkersdal Police have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly assaulted and raped his 26-year-old girlfriend last Friday, December 10.
Bekkersdal Police spokesperson Sergeant Linkie Lefakane said the incident happened after the victim arrived home at night during which an argument between the couple ensued.
“The suspect then allegedly dragged the victim to another house and continued to assault and eventually, rape her. The following morning, the victim managed to escape and called the police thanks to a neighbor’s help. The suspect, however, managed to get away,” Sergeant Lefakane said.
Acting Bekkersdal Police station commander Lieutenant Colonel Andile Moshani condemned the incident saying there’s no place for domestic violence in society.
“Let us report domestic violence as it happens to lessen this kind of incidents,” Lieutenant Colonel Moshane added.
