Two wanted in connection with 19-year-old’s rape

Two men have been identified as suspects in a rape case involving a 19-year-old.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating two men wanted in a rape case.

Randfontein Police spokesperson Sergeant Carmen Hendricks said shortly after midnight on Monday, October 18, a 19-year-old girl was raped.

Shortly after deciding to leave a tavern to go home, the girl searched for her boyfriend. An unknown man then approached her and said he knew where her boyfriend went and that he could show her. They walked and once in Leeuw Street, Mohlakeng she noticed the street was very quiet.

“Three men suddenly approached them from behind. They spoke to the man she walked with but she could not hear what the conversation was about.

“The three men grabbed her handbag and the one she was with closed her mouth and pulled her inside a yard. He told her not to scream but she did. The three men returned and they dragged her behind a shack where she was raped. She screamed and managed to run away.”

Sergeant Hendricks added, “We are appealing to members of the public with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the investigating officer Constable Khuse on 011 951 1729 or Randfontein Police on 011 414 4992.

Alternatively contact 071 675 7094 or make use of the My SAPS app as well as the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 to report crime anonymously.”
