Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse said only one incident was reported for the period between Monday, January 31 and Sunday, February 6.

• Saturday, February 5 at 13:45 – Theft and arrest on Village Street, Randfontein CBD: A thug attempted to grab a bag from the shop and was arrested after he attempted to flee.

On the armed response side we were very quiet in Randfontein. Most of the incidents occurred in the Krugersdorp area the past week,” Willemse said.

He gave the following safety tips:

• Ensure your alarm system is fully functional as you never know when you will need it the most.

• Ensure that your alarm battery is in a good condition and can withstand power failures in excess of six hours. Take care of your alarm as it might just protect you in case of an emergency.

• Should you require an upgrade to your current alarm system or require technical assistance please contact Mapogo.

• Avoid false alarms. Ensure that you respect your alarm and assist your security company by reducing unnecessary responses to false alarm activations. False alarms can cost lives.
