Manhunt underway after woman was raped near Greenhills cemetery

West Rand Police have launched a manhunt after a woman, who accepted a lift in Tarlton, was raped near a cemetery in Randfontein.

The West Rand Police are appealing to the community to assist them in finding a man regarding the rape of a woman on her way to work.

West Rand District Police spokesperson Sergeant Kgomotso Mogwere explained that the victim alleged that she was on her way to work at about 17:00 on Sunday March 6 when she was raped. She told police that a maroon bakkie stopped next to her on the Randfontein road in Tarlton.

She did not notice the number plate.

The driver offered her a lift and promised to drop her off at her workplace.”

However, he did not do as promised and instead sped off and parked next to a bush before the Greenhills Cemetery where he held her at gunpoint and raped her. Mogwere asked that anyone with information that could help the police would contact them.
