New West Rand District Municipality municipal manager introduced

New municipal manager Elias Koloi hails from Merafong City and has over 30 years of local government experience.

Management of West Rand District Municipality (WRDM) has appointed a new municipal manager on May 1.

WRDM Executive Mayor, Councillor Hullet Hild said in a press release, “The multi-party coalition government appointed Elias Koloi to be the municipal manager in the West Rand District”.

He said Koloi hails from Merafong City and has over 30 years of local government experience. He has headed several departments within the municipality.

This appointment is the first step in our effort to stabilise the District and start delivering quality services to the people of the West Rand.”

According to Hild, Koloi previously served as the executive manager for Public Safety, Corporate Services, Regional Planning, and Economic Development. He had served as the acting municipal manager of the West Rand District from November 2019 to April 30, 2022.

“The DA together with its coalition partners is committed to getting the District functional and able to deliver on its core mandates.

“The appointment of a municipal manager is an integral part of restoring services in the municipality and achieving financial stability,” the statement concluded.
