Daar was groot opgewondenheid onder verskeie laerskoolleerders in die dorp toe Hoërskool Riebeeckrand hulle saam met bekende sanger Jan Bloukaas besoek het.
Riebeeckrand het op Donderdag, 21 April by Laerskool Randfontein en Laerskool Rapportryer gaan kuier om die laerskoolleerders te motiveer vir hoërskool.
Skoolwoordvoerder Elzeri Wright het vertel dat sommige van hul skool se leerders saam met Jan Bloukaas by die twee laerskole gaan geesvang het.
Hulle het geesvangliedjies gesing en Jan Bloukaas het ook opgetree,” het sy vertel. Hulle het dit gedoen om vir die laerskoolleerders te wys watter gees by Riebeeckrand heers.
Die leerders het ook aandenkings met die skool se naam daarop ontvang.
“Ons wou hê hulle moes eerstehands ervaar hoe dit voel om ‘n Riebeeckrander te wees, hoe trots ons leerders op ons skool is, en watter gees, trots en tradisies daar by ons skool is omdat dit vir hulle tyd is om ‘n hoërskool te kies.”
