Police hit the streets to reassure public

Randfontein Police together with other stakeholders conducted an extensive visit to several parts of Rand West City to strengthen relations, among other things.

Management of the Randfontein Police strengthened relationships with the public, reiterated the need for public safety, and introduced the newly elected members of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) on Saturday May 21.

Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, the Randfontein Police station commander said they went to spots such as Usave (Toekomsrus), Village Square Mall, Bongweni, Greenhills Circle, Randgate Spar, Pick n Pay (Helikonpark), Sungate Farms, Highway Spar Finsbury, Kocksoord and Tambotie Mall.

The objective was to introduce our CPF structure to the public, because we wanted them to know whom to speak to when they have issues about crime or when they’re not satisfied with the police’s service,” Manamela said.

He added that introducing the CPF to the community would help alleviate problems such as business robberies, hijackings, and issues relating to domestic violence that have plagued Rand West City.

Manamela said they collaborated with others such as the Rand West Traffic Department, Women As Safety Promoters, and Victim Empowerment Coordinators for the community to communicate with.

We were addressing a combination of things including road safety, and how driving negligently can cause loss of lives on the road,” he said.

He also urged community members who are not members of the CPF to join the structure to help police make sure that many areas in the region were crime-free and that people felt safe.

Manamela asked those who have any information regarding suspects or anything suspicious to contact him on 076 421 6591 (mobile or WhatsApp).

“We encourage people to work with the CPF and the police continuously because we cannot let criminals take over Rand West City; we must make sure that Rand West is safe by working together,” Manamela added.
