West Rand police confirm CIT heist – details still unclear

West Rand police confirmed a CIT heist which occurred a short while ago as one enters Randfontein, however details are still unclear.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area entering Randfontein at the infamous R28/ R41 intersection where a cash-in-transit (CIT) heist unfolded on Friday evening, February 3.

West Rand District Police spokesperson Sergeant Kgomotso Mogwere confirmed to the Herald that a CIT heist occurred a short while ago.

Numerous residents shared on social media and community groups how they heard a loud bang and gunshots and saw smoke just before 19:00 in nearby Greenhills, Homelake and as far as Elandsvlei.
